Meeting Minutes

The April 25, 2006 meeting was called to order by President Trevor Carslay
 
The minutes of the March 28, 2006 meeting were read and approved.
 
President Trevor Carslay read the treasurers report:
 
                                        Checking = $3,097.33
                                        Savings = $103.33
 
Under Old Business, President Trevor Carslay brought up the information having to do with the upcoming Auction/Dinner/Dance we are hosting at Wiggins Barn on April 29th, 2006.  It was voted to just put the donation dollars we get towards the items we are trying to purchase with the funds from the auction seeings that we have alot of prizes for the auction already.
We will not be purchasing a trip to Las Vegas with the money.  Also he reported that everything is a go and we hope that the event is a great success.
 
President Trevor Carslay reported that the flowers for the downtown areas have been purchased and we are planning on getting the flowers on May 6th and plan on planting them on May 10th.  We will also planning on giving flats of flowers to the City of Nooksack to be planted there.  Remember May 10th is planting day and all are welcome to help out.
 
The floor was then turned over to our guest speaker from Samson Estates,
Diane Andrews.  She game a speech on wine tasting gatherings and the legalities that go along with these events. She proposed to give a wine tasting event at our upcoming Summer Festival in July, or at any event that we hold in the cities of Everson and Nooksack.  Also she had information on their business planning to build an area on their property to hold and host special events in the near future.
 
Jennifer Lautenbach gave an update on the committees in charge of planning the Everson Nooksack Summer Festival.  She announced that there will be an Everson-Nooksack Idol competition on Friday and Saturday of the festival.  Ages 13-18 will be able to compete and there will be flyers going to the local schools to notify the kids and their parents. We will be looking for a  Randy, Paula and Simon to judge the competition and this should be alot of fun for the young people in our communities and their families. We will be looking into such things as voice lessons, recordings and other items for prizes.   The next Meeting for the Summer Festival committees will be held at Mastersblend in Everson at noon on May 17th.
 
Becky Johns gave an update on some the the special events that will be held  by the Glenn Echo Community.
 
Steve Jones reported that Marion Evenson, Principal of the Nooksack Elementary School has been awarded and honored by our state as the Washington State Distinguished Principal Award.  She will be going to a national meeting in the near future.  We would all like to congratulate her on this very special honor.  We signed a card and sent it to her from the members of the Chamber.
 
Mayor of Everson, Jaylene Pratt gave an update on the Everson Trail to be started on May 30th and finished about 20 days later.
 
Jeff Bergman of
NWPROWEB.COM talked to us about the Webcam sites he is interested in and  would like feedback from anyone who has questions or is interested in this.
