Lunch prepared by Kelly Isfeld
The May 2006 Everson Nooksack Chamber of Commerce meeting was called to order by Secretary Kelly Isfeld.
Under Old Business we discussed the results of the Auction/Dinner/Dance held on April 29th, 2006 at Wiggins Barn in Everson. All in all the event turned out to be very successful considering the horrible weather and low attendance, the people who were there had fun and were very generous with their auction bids. We ended up making a profit of over $3,300 dollars and everyone had a great time.
On May 10th Tina Labree and her family, a group of FFA members from Nooksack Valley High School and Jennifer Lautenbach and her mother Debbie Jones planted the flowers in the city of Everson flower beds. It looks wonderful and we thank them all for the great job.
Diana Quinn reported that there will be probably over 4,000 people passing through Everson on May 28 for the Ski To Sea Festival. The Bikers switch with the Canoer's under the Everson Bridge.
Mary Compton brought up for discussion getting more people involved with the Chamber as members and volunteers. We discussed calling and emailing and even sending postcards before the chamber meetings. We will try to do these things in the future to see if it helps with our attendance at our meetings and our membership.
Marshall Judy announced that there is going to be 2 new businesses in the City of Nooksack. Brulands Brew and a Mexican Bakery will be opening up soon.
Jennifer Lautenbach reported on the upcoming Summer Festival. They have picked the logo theme for the T Shirts and have purchased the signs and flyers. Everything is coming along fine and the next meeting for the Summer Festival committees will be at Mastersblend in Everson on June 28th at noon. Anyone interested in helping out is welcome to attend the meeting. It will be the last meeting before the Summer Festival.
Jeff Bergman of
NWPROWEB.COM brought up the subject of the Webcam and if anyone is interested in more information on it. We decided to get more information on the locations the webcams are at and then decide whether or not we would like to pursue them.
Cheryl Brown reported that on June 6th there will be a picnic held in the Everson Park for a end of term recognition for her business A Watered Garden and all are invited to attend. It will start at 6 o'clock p.m. It will be a potluck.
Sarah Holland from the McBeath Library announced that they will be trying to have a program night at the library on the fourth Monday of the month at 7 o'clock p.m.
The Nooksack Elementary School will be holding an assembly for Marion Evenson, their Principal today at 1 o'clock. It is in her honor for receiving the Distinguished Principal award for the state of Washington. Congrats to her.
They will be starting the trail and railings on the bridge in Everson in June. It should be completed by the time the Summer Festival begins.
The meeting was adjourned.
