General member meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month in January, March, May, July, September, and November. The Board meets on the Friday before to set the agenda for Tuesday.   • Everson Library - NVHC Display Cabinet: Learn about Lawrence:  Marv Fullner shares early postmarks, photos of shingle mills, and other memorabilia from bygone days of Lawrence, his childhood home. Located five miles south of Everson, the first railroad came to the small town in 1891 and transported shingles from the 10 local mills.   • Everson Library - NVHC Display Cabinet: Tramp Art:  Enjoy Roger Germain’s collection of historic tramp art. Learn about the origins and misconceptions of this art movement where small pieces of wood, primarily from discarded cigar boxes and shipping crates, were whittled into layers of geometric shapes having the outside edges of each layer notch carved.   • Everson Library - NookChat: Community Storytelling:  Celebrate the Summer Festival at the Everson Library. Teresa Loe tells about her forbearers’ historic Thompson family farm located in Everson on the original Bell homestead. Join Jim Berg and Teresa as we “Explore the Past; Enrich the Present” in this informal, interactive gathering sponsored by the NVHC committee.   • Everson Library - Fossils:  Join us for an interactive discussion on the fascinating world of fossil plants led by local Sumas resident and avid fossil collector Dave Morgan. Learn about the recent Holocene of Washington State at Mt. Baker and journey back layer by layer to the Ancient Devonian Shoreline of what is now England. An added bonus…a visit to an ancient Montana beach 1.4 billion years ago. Fossils will be on display from the Morgan Family collection.   • Everson Library - Ukulele for Everyone:  Strumming and singing with the ukulele has become an international phenomenon! For this monthly event, ukuleles will be available for use courtesy of the Bellingham Ukulele Group. Join Cynthia Rogers for a demo, beginning lessons, and a song circle of the "happy instrument."
